I obviously follow people on tumblr who post up gifs and pictures of Brian and Justin. I know which episodes they came from. It frustrates me that they had a beautiful love story and yet the writers couldn’t let them have a happy ending. I mean it’s only a television show, it really doesn’t have to portray real life when people get tired of each other and get a divorce. We rely on television to give us happy endings because sometimes love in our lives can be horrible and we don’t know how to handle it. Television helps us cope through it.
Justin loved Brian just like everyone else because he was smart, hot, and gorgeous, not to mention good in bed. Justin looked up to him. Justin knew everyone wanted Brian but he knew how to get under the wire, just like what Debbie told Brian. It took awhile for me to figure out how Brian fell in love with Justin. I mean the way Brian treated Justin in season1 was so confusing! Sometimes he wanted Justin and other times he wanted Justin to stay the hell away from him. Brian enjoyed having a much younger boy to have fun with him. But in the end, I believe Brian liked having Justin around because he could teach him how to be the “best homosexual out there”. Michael was afraid to out himself in public while Justin accepted who he was and never stayed in the closet. I think Brian really admired that although he is a hypocrite for not telling his parents that he was gay. Brian has his own set of rules for himself, I think he teaches his friends to have their own sets of rules for themselves even though they all seem to follow his advice. It doesn’t always work.
ANYWAY BACK TO THE LOVE STORY…Brian and Justin should have stayed together. Justin didn’t need to go to NYC to “conquer the art world”. In season 1, when Brian wanted to go to NYC for a new job, Lindsey told him don’t go since Justin is the one for him. And now in season 5, Lindsey is telling Brian to let Justin to go to NYC. That is messed up. I would never want to be friends with a woman like that. She is messed up. I think the show should have ended the show with some scenes of them in the far future living at Britin and being successful in their works and have children. Brian could have been a good dad even though he was barely there for Gus. But now that he’s committed to Justin, I think he could have done anything with Justin.
